Govt has approved allotment of 5 MHz Spectrum to Indian Railways, Railways to use the Spectrum to provide LTE based Mobile Train Radio Communication with an estimated investment of over Rs. 25,000 Cr

Today’s Cabinet decision augurs well for the Railways, particularly in terms of furthering safety, security and efficiency.

PM Narendra Modi

Ministry of Railways:

Giving a boost to ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ mission, Government has approved allotment of 5 MHz Spectrum in 700 MHz frequency band to Indian Railways for public safety and security services at stations and in trains.

With this spectrum, Indian Railways has envisaged to provide LTE (Long Term Evolution) based Mobile Train Radio Communication on its routes.

The estimated investment in the project is more than Rs. 25,000 Crore. The project will be completed in the next 5 years.

In addition to this, Indian Railways has approved TCAS (Train Collision Avoidance System), an indigenously developed ATP (Automatic Train Protection) System, which will help in avoiding train collisions thereby reducing accidents and ensuring passenger safety.

It brings a strategic shift in Railways’ operations and maintenance regime.  It will help in improving the safety and increasing the line capacity to accommodate more trains using the existing infrastructure.

The modern rail network will result in reduced transportation cost and higher efficiency. Also, it will attract multinational industries to set up manufacturing units to fulfill the ‘Make in India’ mission and generate employment.

The purpose of the LTE for Indian Railways is to provide secure and reliable voice, video and data communication services for operational, safety and security applications.

It will be used for modern signalling and train protection systems and ensure seamless communication between loco pilots and guards.

It will also enable Internet of Things (IoT) based remote asset monitoring especially of coaches, wagons & locos, and live video feed of CCTV cameras in the train coaches to ensure efficient, safer and faster train operations.

The Spectrum charges may be levied based on formula basis as prescribed by Department of Telecommunications for Royalty Charges and License Fee for Captive use as recommended by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

From the very beginning, we have fully supported the farmers’ movement & our MPs have also joined them several times in their protest: Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee in a Press Conference today at the State Secretariat, Nabanna. Excerpts via AITC:

From the very beginning, we have fully supported the farmers’ movement & our MPs have also joined them several times in their protest against the draconian Farm Laws. We’ve also passed a resolution rejecting these laws.

There is no need for the Prime Minister to hoard credit for free vaccines. This money belongs to the people of India and not the BJP

Those who put a GST charges on the vaccine are playing with the life & death of citizens of India.

PM Narendra Modi said “no tolerance for corruption”!

Wondering if the PM rebuked Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari for his activities & enlightened him on the Prevention of Corruption Act?

Perhaps they worked on a unique Bill together – How To Get Away With Fraud & Corruption?

Urging Union Agriculture Minister to be sensitive to the pain of our farmers sitting on Delhi borders for 194 days, I exhort him to hold fresh talks: Sukhbir Singh Badal

500 farmers have laid down their lives fighting against the 3 controversial Farm Laws.

Still, instead of resolving the issue, the NDA govt is effectively telling the peaceful protestors that there is no space for discussion in a democracy.

Urging Agri Minister NS Tomar to be sensitive to the pain of our farmers sitting on Delhi borders for 194 days, I exhort him to hold fresh talks to understand why they want the Acts be repealed, instead of sprinkling salt on their wounds by out rightly rejecting this demand.
