India is set to get 8 new Flying Training Academies

PIB India:

India is set to get 8 new Flying Training Academies under the liberalised Flying Training Organisation (FTO) policy of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

These academies will be set up at Belagavi, Jalgaon, Kalaburagi, Khajuraho and Lilabari.

The set-up of these 8 FTOs is aimed at making India a global flying training hub and to prevent the exodus of Indian cadets to foreign FTOs.

Additionally, these FTOs will also be designed to cater the flying training requirements of cadets in India’s neighbouring countries.

Attesting to the perseverance and determination of the team of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is the fact that they successfully managed to finalise the bidding process amid the challenging period caused due to the second wave of COVID-19.

These five airports have been carefully chosen since they have minimal disruption due to weather issues and civil/ military air traffic.

This initiative will help the Indian flying training sector in becoming more self-sustaining under the Atmannirbhar Bharat initiative.

Airports Authority of India had invited bids for the same in November 2020. The award letters were issued on 31 May 2021 to winning bidders: Asia-Pacific, Jetserve, Redbird, Samvardhane and Skynex.

The parameters set for prospective bidders included familiarisation with aviation safety aspects, regulatory mechanisms, experience in the field of training pilots on manned aircraft, the availability of equipment, trainers, etc.

To make FTOs attractive for bidders, AAI reduced the minimum annual rental significantly to Rs.15 lacs. Furthermore, the concept of airport royalty was scrapped to make these ventures business-friendly.

Here is a ten point guide to understand GST: P Chidambaram

P Chidambaram – Former Union Finance Minister:

Here is a ten point guide to understand GST:

1. GST started as a good idea

2. BJP converted it into a bad law

3. It was notified with horrendous rates of tax

4. The law was applied as though tax-collecting officers were hounds hunting foxes

5. Every businessperson was suspected to be a tax evader

6. The GST Council was reduced to a talking shop

7. The GST Implementation Committee (consisting of officers) became the tail that wagged the dog

8. The FM treats the GoM as an extension of the NDA and its supporting parties

9. All FMs who express a contrary view are treated as errant schoolboys

10. The idea of GST: RIP

Kharge

In my letter to PM Narendra Modi, I raised concerns regarding the manner in which the NHRC appointments were made : Mallikarjun Kharge

Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition, Rajya Sabha :

In my letter to PM Narendra Modi, I raised concerns regarding the manner in which the NHRC appointments were made. The BJP Govt refused to consider any SCs, STs, OBCs or minorities. Further, the appointments smack of partisanship & quid pro quo. I strongly condemn this.

Letter to Prime Minister :

Pursuant to the meeting of the Committee for appointment to the post of Chairperson and Members of National Hurnan Rights Cornmission (NHRC) held at 6 00 pm on 31″ May. 2021 at the 7. Lok Kalyan Marg. New Delhi. I would like to hereby place on record my views on the committee’s decision to recommend a panel of names for selection to the post of Chairperson and Members of NHRC.

In continuation of my letter addressed to the horible Prime Minister earlier today. I had reiterated in todays’ meeting. my concern over the nse in the cases of atrocities on Scheduled Castes. Scheduled Tribes and minorities and proposed that at least one person belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and minorities be recommended for appointment either to the post of Chairperson under Section 3(2)(a) dr a member under Sec..’ 3(2)(0 or a member under Section 3(2)(d) to the National Human Rights Commission from amongst the existing list of candidates.

I also pointed out that appointment of the Chairperson or a member to the NHRC cannot simply be ignored on the pretext that there is no specific provision to this effect in the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 and amendments made thereto. Obviously there cannot be any bar to appoint either Chairperson or member to the NHRC on this ground.

Alternatively. I proposed that if it is not feasible today. the meeting may be postponed for a week and reconvened bringing before the Selection Committee the names of some candidates from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and minorities so that one of these could be recommended for appointment either for the post of Chairperson or member of the NHRC. Since tho Committee did not accept any of my proposals.

I express my disagreement with the recommendations mado by the Committee in regard to appointments to the posts of Chairperson and Members of NHRC.

Pinarayi Vijayan – Chief Minister, Kerala :

Spike in fuel prices causes price rise of essential commodities, creating severe difficulties for Kerala, a consumer State.

Even as prices of crude oil falls in the international market, GoI hikes excise duties on it. This should be stopped.

‘Amused by the attacks on my alleged hypocrisy on vaccine diplomacy. Recall I openly supported Vaccine Maitri at first…’ : Shashi Tharoor

Shashi Tharoor India News

Shashi Tharoor, MP for Thiruvananthapuram, INC :

Amused by the attacks on my alleged hypocrisy on vaccine diplomacy. Recall I openly supported Vaccine Maitri at first, when I hadn’t yet realised the Govt had failed to order enough vaccines for its own citizens first, as US, UK, EuropeanGovts had done.

Then, when COVID Second Wave showed GoI totally unprepared, shuffling off its responsibilities to States & vax centres ran out of vaccines, I rightly issued a comprehensive charge-sheet against GoI, incl for giving more vaccines abroad than to its people.

In this connection I expressed solidarity with those who asked theGovt to explain its dereliction of duty to its own citizens. Where’s the hypocrisy in that? As an Indian I’d be proud if Govt had ordered enough vaccines BOTH for Indians AND to fulfil international commitments.

For 4 yrs, Cong govt has milked the sacrilege incidents, which are deeply painful, for political gains: Sukhbir Singh Badal

Sukhbir Singh Badal – President, Akali Dal:

For 4 yrs, Cong govt has milked the sacrilege incidents, which are deeply painful, for political gains.

When Akali Dal was in power, Cong demanded CBI probe the case, but when it came back to power, it took back the case & did nothing.

I promise justice once SAD forms govt.

Revolting to see Punjab govt fighting ‘kursi di ladai’ instead of ‘Covid naal ladai’.

CM & his ministers have shuttered themselves or gone to Delhi.

No govt in sight to regulate private hospitals, check black marketing of medicines, open COVID19 centres or purchase the vaccines.
