Leverage school infrastructure after school hours to come up with substantial number of skill hubs: Dharmendra Pradhan

Dharmendra Pradhan – Union Minister:

  • I thank all Ministers and stakeholders of 32 States/UTs for sharing their learnings and experiences on ways to transform learning and usher in excellence in educational practices at the two-day National Conference of School Education Ministers.

  • Curriculum, teacher training, and e-learning frameworks are a priority.

  • I urged for more pro-active support, cooperation and participation from all States/UTs in the development of NCF and in building teacher capacities.

  • The NEP also lays emphasis on skilling. Utilisation of existing school infra is a must. I exhorted the States/UTs to strengthen District Institutes of Educational and Training (DIET) and also leverage the school infrastructure after school hours to come up with substantial number of skill hubs.

  • Every state has its own unique proposition. Suggested States/UTs to also evolve ways to blend curriculum keeping in mind State/UT specific requirements. We all have to continuously work together for a more vibrant education landscape and for making an India of the 21st century.

In our tradition Jigyasa or curiosity for learning was encouraged. It was given greater importance than Jigeesha or the wish to win a debate or argument : President Kovind

LIVE : President Kovind addresses the Visitor’s Conference on ‘Implementation of National Education Policy 2020 – Higher Education’ :

I appreciate the efforts of Dr RP Nishank, Sanjay Dhotre, concerned officials at the Edu Min Of India and other institutions for completing the process of policy making. Dr Kasturirangan, and his team, who prepared the NEP2020, deserve special commendation.

NEP aims to reorient our education system towards meeting the needs of the 21st century. It sets the vision of developing an equitable and vibrant knowledge society by providing quality education to all. This calls for achieving the twin objectives of inclusion and excellence.

NEP seeks to discourage rote learning and overemphasis on marks or grades. It seeks to encourage critical thinking and a spirit of enquiry.

In our tradition Jigyasa or curiosity for learning was encouraged. It was given greater importance than Jigeesha or the wish to win a debate or argument.

Universities and institutes of higher education should be centres of innovation. They should provide innovative solutions to national and local problems. Community participation and use of local resources should be encouraged for providing solutions to local problems.

One of the targets of the NEP 2020 is to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio or GER in higher education to 50 percent by 2035. Technology can help in achieving this target.

Engage, explore, experience, express and excel should be our mantra of new age learning for children : PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing “School Education in 21st Century” under NEP 2020 Conclave:

NEP 2020 is the result of ceaseless hard work of various stakeholders over last 4-5 years. Still, the work is not complete. It’s just the beginning. The road ahead is to ensure its effective implementation.

NEP 2020 focuses on primary-level education for fun, playful, activity-based and discovery-based learning of the students.

Early childhood care and education is included as a foundation in NEP2020; Pre school playful education will also reach to the villages and to the poor

Pre-school is the first outside experience for the children. We need teachers right from the pre-school level who focus on fun-learning, activity based learning and discovery based learning

We have to increase easy and innovative ways in our education system. Engage, explore, experience, express and excel should be our mantra of new age learning for children

NEP would prepare the nation’s youth on knowledge and skills equally : PM Modi addresses Governors’ Conference on National Education Policy

PM Modi addresses inaugural session of Governors’ Conference on National Education Policy via video conferencing :

  • Work on National Education Policy had started over 4-5 years ago. Millions of people – both rural, urban and people associated to the education sector had given their suggestions for the NEP. Over 2 lakh people had sent in their suggestions.
  • The nation has taken another step after deciding on the National Education Policy. Today, the country is discussing in detail and thinking about its implementation. The policy will give a new direction to social and economic life of 21st century India.
  • This policy would prepare the nation’s youth on knowledge and skills equally. The new education policy focuses on learning, instead of study. It moves ahead of curriculum and focuses on critical thinking.
  • The pressure on students for specific streams have been removed. Our youth will now be able to learn according to their interests. Earlier, students used to pick a stream beyond their aptitude and they realised it much later. Such problems have been done away with in the NEP.
  • With vocational exposure right from early age, our youth will get better prepared for life. Our youth’s participation in the global job market and employ-ability in India will increase with practical learning.
  • Under the NEP, we’ve opened the pathway to open campuses of best international institutes in India for our students. When top campuses will open in India, our students will get more competitive and will not have to go abroad for quality education.
