From my heart, I wish to thank the people of Karnataka for giving the Congress party a historic mandate: Sonia Gandhi – CPP Chairperson

Congress:

From my heart, I wish to thank the people of Karnataka for giving the Congress party a historic mandate.

I would like to reassure the people of Karnataka that the Congress government will stand by its commitment to implement the promises it made to them.

I am proud that the first cabinet meeting has already approved the immediate implementation of our five guarantees.

The Congress party remains committed to the prosperity, peace and progress of Karnataka.

We reflect the voices of the people. The path ahead is not easy, but the victory will be ours: Sonia Gandhi at Raipur

Sonia Gandhi – Former Congress President:

This is particularly a challenging time for the country, as PM Modi & the BJP have relentlessly captured every single institution.

It ruthlessly silences any voice of opposition.

Each one of us has special responsibility towards the party & the country.

Congress isn’t just a political party; we’re the vehicle through which the people of India fight for liberty, equality, fraternity & justice for all.

We reflect the voices of the people. The path ahead is not easy, but the VICTORY will be OURS.

Kharge ji’s journey from a grassroot worker to the highest post in the Congress reflects the ideals of India for which our freedom struggle was fought and the values of our constitution.

It continues our rich & unparalleled tradition of internal democracy.

If we look at the last 25 years, our victories in 2004 & 2009 elections along with the able leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh ji gave me personal satisfaction. What gratifies me the most is that my innings could conclude with the historic Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s speech at the concluding session of the ‘Nav Sankalp Shivir’, Udaipur, via INC India:

  • This has been a very useful and productive Shivir. So many of you have had an opportunity to express your views and offer suggestions in a spirit of constructive participation.

  • I have received summary of discussion in each of the six groups and this will reform our party’s position, policies, and programmes.

  • They will also be of value to prepare our manifesto for the state and national elections. I want to make a special mention of the report of the organisational group since it is the most immediately relevant.

  • I assure you that the detailed recommendation of the groups – some of them are not in the Sankalp – will be acted upon. We’ll undoubtedly lead reenergized with the refreshed spirit of collective purpose.

  • We will launch a national ‘Kanyakumari to Kashmir Bharat Jodo’ Yatra beginning on Gandhi Jayanti this year.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s message on the occasion of 137th Congress Foundation Day :

Dear Party colleagues and Party workers, 136 years ago today The Indian National Congress was founded and established. Over the decades it has confrontedseveral challenges and it has always demonstrated its resilience.

Today we rededicate ourselves to the ideals values and principles of our organization that has been shaped, guided and inspired by some of the greatest noblest and most selfless of Indians of the 20th century.

Divisive ideologies anchored in hate and prejudice and which had no role whatsoever to play in our freedom movement are now causing havoc on the secular fabric of our society.

They are rewriting history to give themselves a role they do not deserve they inflame passions instill fear and spread animosity. The finest tradition of our parliamentary democracy are being deliberately damaged. The Indian National Congress will fight these destructive forces with all its might.

Let there be no doubt on our steadfast resolve we have never and we will never compromise on our fundamental beliefs that are part of our glorious legacy. Electoral ups and downs are inevitable but what is enduring and lasting is our commitment to the service of all people of our diverse society.

On this occasion I send my greetings and good wishes to the millions of congressmen and women across the country and I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy 2022. Jai Hind!

The extraordinary convergence of a well-planned political, diplomatic and military strategy gave 1971- a distinctive place in the history of the sub-continent: Sonia Gandhi – Congress President

Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s speech excerpts at the closing ceremony of celebrations of the Bangladesh Liberation War, 1971. via INC India

Today, we celebrate a magnificent accomplishment. But I think, Indira Gandhi would have wanted us to do so, not in a boastful spirit or in a spirit of self-glorification, but in a spirit of reflection and resolve.

The 1971 war was in reality the triumph of the will of the people of the Bangladesh and a fulfillment of their aspirations. It was also a victory of the people of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

India stood in solidarity with the people of Bangladesh to assist them in diverse ways- extended humanitarian support, mobilised international backing & ultimately when attacked- mounted a hugely successful military operation.

It was this extraordinary convergence of a well-planned political, diplomatic and military strategy that gave 1971- a distinctive place in the history of the sub-continent. It was a history that reshaped geography as well.
