Union Minister Smt. N Sitharaman ji interacted with representatives from biotech industry & startups at Inst. of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology Bengaluru along with Mr. Prashanth Prakash, Chairperson, Vision Group for Startups, Ms. Kiran Shaw, Chairperson, Vision Group for Biotechnology.

India’s Biotech industry at over $65 Billion is the third-largest in Asia-Pacific. Bengaluru is India’s Biotech capital and Karnataka has the first-mover advantage.

Our Millennium Biotech Policy II – 2009, has bolstered the Biotech ecosystem.

The sector has worked to find solutions to fight COVID19 which will not just aid healthcare but also bring in much needed revenues to tide over the current economic slowdown.

It is time to address the industry need from a policy perspective.

Biotech is dependent on infrastructure, funding & talent. Keeping these points in mind, we are on the path to launch Karnataka Innovation Vision 2030 that intends to build resilience and reap the benefits of next wave of innovation & industrial revolution.
