EC should allow small meetings as they are a must for candidates to approach all sections of society. Major part of society will remain uncovered if only digital campaigning is allowed: Akali Dal

Shiromani Akali Dal:

We urge Election Commission to reconsider the ban on election rallies & corner meetings in Punjab.

It should allow small meetings as they are a must for candidates to approach all sections of society. Major part of society will remain uncovered if only digital campaigning is allowed.

It is not possible to cover all the voters of the assembly constituency in digital mode as there are many backward areas in the state where internet networks are not working properly. Old people who constitute a major part of the population rarely use digital methods.

We urge Election Commission to take notice of paid news being aired as development stories by Delhi & Punjab govt.

Many parties contesting elections in Punjab are promoting their political interests at state exchequer’s expense. This is especially in case of Delhi govt which doesn’t come under COC guidelines.
