Today noon Kanyakumari to Kashmir Bharat Jodo Yatra completed at Lal Chowk after covering 4080 kms, 12 states & 2 UTs,walking for 116 days.

Today, it was Jai Jawan on the 105th afternoon of Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Rahul Gandhi had a 45 min in-depth interaction with around 30 ex-servicemen, who ranged from Lt. Generals to Junior Commission Officers.
4 issues came up for discussion:
1. Agnipath Scheme
2. Threats from China
3. Implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP)
4. Need for a separate Ahir regiment in the Indian Army to recognise the significant contribution of the community
All the ex-servicemen were against the Agnipath scheme.
They wanted the govt to be more forthcoming about the border situation with China & acknowledged that while OROP has benefited officers at higher levels, it has not been beneficial for JCOs who leave the army earlier.
The ex-servicemen also wanted a formal and regular system of interaction with the Congress leadership on issues of national security.

On 86th day of Bharat Jodo Yatra Rahul Gandhi had 2 highly engaging interactions near Agar.
In the 1st, elected panchayat & nagarpalika representatives highlighted how their constitutional powers had been diminished & subverted by the MP state govt.
Rahul Gandhi explained how Bharat Jodo Yatra is meant to raise the issue of centralisation of power in many states.
In the 2nd, with OBC organisations, he clearly stated that Caste Census must be done at the earliest & agreed with demands made for further empowerment of OBCs.

It is truly pathetic that several TV channels did debates today on Assam CM’s obnoxious & totally unacceptable comments on Rahul Gandhi’s beard.
This trivialises the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
These channels must do some serious self-introspection on what they have reduced themselves to.
The massive public meeting in Shegaon, which is famous for the Sant Gajanan Maharaj temple, was nothing short of spectacular!

The afternoon interaction on Day 60 of Bharat Jodo Yatra at Nizampet revealed a Rahul Gandhi who’s extremely well read on the works of Mahatma Phule & Dr. Ambedkar.
He engaged Dalit, Adivasi and OBC groups in a most serious manner… they interacted on a variety of issues including those relating to caste discrimination, social empowerment, atrocities and persisting practices that demean women like devdasis and joginis.
It was as good as any serious sociology session and I wish we had more time.
