Happy to have visited the restored Fitzgerald Fountain at Metro junction earlier today: Aaditya Thackeray

Happy to have visited the restored Fitzgerald Fountain at Metro junction earlier today.

First installed in 1867, it had been moved out in the 1960s.

Now it is restored to its full glory and back with the lamp, drinking water spouts and fountains, thanks to our conservationists

Having visited this monument earlier during the ongoing restoration works, one can only appreciate its beauty and marvel inside and outside.

The only other twin was in Northampton, UK, but apparently no longer. Thus, this is a unique monument now.

We are restoring all the old pyaus, milestones and such monuments in the State. This is an important footprint of our heritage and engineering marvels that we hold since the past. If we may see it, they are utilities merged with public art.

This afternoon, Minister Eknath Shinde ji (over VC) and I reviewed works important for MMR region and growth of Maharashtra, taken up by MMRDA, in presence of BMC & SRA: WEH, Worli- Shivdi Connector, Nariman Point- Cuffe Parade connector, Kalyan ring road

1) WEH & EEH are being taken up by MMRDA for access control, pedestrian pathways and cycle track.

Each month as we review the surface upgrade of WEH, these newer aspects will help us to better the travel experience of WEH, reducing traffic and improving aesthetic design

The Worli- Shivdi connector will be a crucial East- West connector for traffic dispersal, also connecting Coastal Road to MTHL.

Multiple agencies being involved, our monthly review helps us further the coordination amongst agencies and meet timelines.

The Nariman Point- Cuffe Parade connector is something I have been pushing keenly to help traffic disbursal in Mumbai’s premier business/ banking district.

The design is being made with a design that allows fishermen to take their boats below the connector to dock safely

We also reviewed the progress of the Kalyan Ring Road that will be a major traffic redressal solution for the city of Kalyan and it’s neighbourhood.
