To further strengthen PM Sri Narendra Modi’s call for Minimum Government, Maximum Governance, we’re honoured to have Assam’s Right to Public Services Portal http://rtps.assam.gov.in launched by Union Finance Minister Smt N Sitharaman today.

The portal is a way forward for electronic delivery of ARTPS notified public services to people.

Our government is committed to bring about fast, effective and resilient reforms in governance in tandem with the rapidly transforming world.

Finance Minister also inaugurated an exhibition on Assam Citizen Centric Service Delivery Project.

The project is aimed at providing people an easy & timely access to public services from their comfort zone as well as public facilitation centres.

Our Govt has already agreed to send recommendation to accord ST status to Matak community to the Centre: Himanta Biswa

Met with representatives of Matak organisations, including Matak Autonomous Council, Sodou Axom Matak Sanmilan, Sodou Axom Matak Yuva-Chatra Sanmilan & Sodou Axom Matak Mahila Parishad, in presence of Cabinet colleague Shri Ranoj Pegu & MLA Shri Ponakan Baruah.

Deliberated on issues concerning the community & preparing a plan for holistic development of the community.

A Committee of Ministers will be set up to fix the quantum of reservation for Matak community in educational institutes.

Our Govt has already agreed to send recommendation to accord ST status to Matak community to the Centre.

We will provide land for constructing a Matak Bhawan at Guwahati, make Mayamora Satra encroachment-free & preserve monuments & historical sites of the community.

Sodou Asom Matak Sanmilan will be the sole body for granting OBC certificates to community’s members.

We will strengthen Matak Autonomous Council & Rs 25 cr committed earlier to be released by Nov 30.

More funds to be allocated depending on utilisation & project proposals.

Today is a historic day for Assam & India.

We have taken an extraordinary step of burning stockpile of 2479 horns of single-horned Rhinos, first-of-its-kind globally in volume terms, pursuing vision of PM Sri Narendra Modi of putting an end to poaching in Assam

One-horned rhino is not only integral to our civilisation, but also a symbol of our prized heritage and identity.

We are preserving 94 rhino horns for display at a museum to be set up at Kaziranga National Park.

The use of rhinos’ horns for medicinal purposes is a myth.

Adarniya PM Sri Narendra Modi and Adarniya HM Sri Amit Shah are committed to ensure ever-lasting peace in the North East.

At Dimapur today, we held a discussion with NSCN (IM) representatives in presence of Nagaland CM Sri Neiphiu Rio about the ongoing peace talks with GoI.

We are all keen that the ongoing Peace Talks fructify into concrete results soon.

I also discussed the political scenario in Nagaland with CM as well the upcoming Nagaland Assembly elections, and NEDA India role in it.

Six days after my 1st visit to Nimatighat, I went there again today to review steps taken by Inland Water Transport Dept & admin of Jorhat, Majuli to ensure smooth movt of ferries & safety of passengers.

CM Office Assam:

CM Dr Himanta Biswa reviewed the Ro-Pax service at Nimatighat.

He said Inland Water Transport Dept has made services of 2 Ro-Pax vessels operational between Jorhat & Majuli after thorough inspection.

2 vessels – MV Raj Lakshmi and MV Digaru – will reach Majuli soon, while another is being developed by the department.

Govt of India has also been requested to send two more Ro-Pax vessels to Assam, of which one will ply between Jorhat and Majuli. 8 local boats suspended for having single engines would be converted into marine engines at the expense of the State Govt.

For passengers’ convenience, timings of Ro-Pax vessels and boats under operation have been re-scheduled and will ply three times a day.

An app would also be launched for booking tickets by passengers. Further, 2 night buses will ply between Jorhat and Majuli via Dibrugarh.

Govt of India has decided to set up 7 more Ekalavya Vidyalayas in Assam: Himanta Biswa

Glad that Van Dhan Se Vikas will set up 400 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras to promote tribal art & craft, providing livelihood impetus to our tribal population.

In a meeting with Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Sri Munda Arjun dwelt on this and other critical issues including central schemes.

GOI has decided to set up 7 more Ekalavya Vidyalayas in Assam.

We have also discussed setting up of 5 Tribal Food Parks, ‘TRIFOOD’ in the state.

Also, delighted that our state brand, ‘TRISSAM’ has received Van Dhan National Award.

Visited the boat accident site near Nimati Ghat & took stock of the present situation: Himanta Biswa

Visited the boat accident site near Nimati Ghat & took stock of the present situation & rescue operations by NDRF & SDRF.

Have directed Jorhat Dist Admin to register a criminal case on the accident.

A high level inquiry will also be instituted today.

To ensure uninterrupted service of Ro-Pax throughout the year, dredging between Kamalabari & Nimati Ghat will be carried out to create a navigation channel.

DCs of Jorhat & Majuli will re-schedule & monitor timings of the ferry service.

From today, plying of private ferries will be stopped as they don’t have marine engine.

If owners wish to convert single engine to marine engine, GoA will provide grant of Rs 10 lakh with 75% subsidy.

SoP will be issued to schedule health check ups of those working on boats.

A bridge connecting Jorhat & Majuli is under construction.

Dedicated Government Old Age Home at Sonapur to the service of our mothers.

Compliments to Min Social Welfare Ajanta Neog & her team on constructing this Old Age Home to provide shelter to those in need.

Also, launched 14567 ‘Elder Line’ a national helpline number for senior citizens. Distressed senior citizens can seek help using this toll-free number.

Employment will remain one of the core focus areas of Assam Government. On completion of 100 Days of our Govt, along with Ranoj Pegu & UG Brahma glad to have distributed appointment letters to 767 persons under different Directorates of Education Dept. My best wishes to them

We assured Union Minister of Assam’s firm resolve to provide best healthcare services to our people in keeping with PM Sri Narendra Modi’s vision.

I thank my colleagues Ministers Sri Keshab Mahanta, Sri CM Patowary and MLA Taranga Gogoi for joining me in the meeting.

I also apprised the Minister of Fertilisers on BVFCL and how we have been working on reviving Namrup IV at the earliest.

These brave hearts were also loving fathers, sons, brothers, husbands to many.

Joined Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma in Guwahati today in the second meeting to resolve the outstanding border issues between Assam and Meghalaya: Himant Biswa

Continuing our spirit of mutual friendship, after a meeting on July 23 in Shillong to resolve the outstanding border issues between Assam and Meghalaya, joined Meghalaya CM Sri Conrad Sangma in Guwahati today.

This is the biggest deliberation in this direction in recent times.

Hopeful that after this meeting we will be able to come out with a common agenda of strengthening the long standing friendship between Assam & Meghalaya and continue contributing to the development of India.

Many senior ministers of both sides, CS & senior officials joined.

  • I heartily reciprocate this positive gesture and ask Assam Police to withdraw cases against DC Kolasib and SDPO Virengte

  • Further, in aid of an early amicable resolution, I am sending my cabinet collegues, Atul Bora and Ashok Singhal to Aizawl on 5 Aug, 21, for a meaningful dialogue.

Mizoram Issue –

At Silchar today, after paying my tributes to martyrs, I announced the following:

1. Assam Government will give Rs 50 lakh as compensation to the families of martyrs, and one person from the family will get job

2. All injured will get Rs 1 lakh

3. All Assam Police personnel deployed on the Mizoram border, shall get an additional salary of a month.

4. Assam Govt will raise 3 commando battalion for Karimganj, Cachar and Hailakandi; 3000 personnel will be recruited.

5. We shall file a suit in the Supreme Court seeking intervention to ensure that not an inch of reserve forest is encroached upon
