PM’s announcement on the withdrawal of the three farm laws is not inspired by a change of policy or a change of heart. It is impelled by fear of elections!
Anyway, it is a great victory for the farmers and for the Congress party which was unwavering in its opposition to the farm laws

Today I want to tell the whole country that we have decided to repeal all three farm laws The constitutional process for this will be completed in the session of Parliament starting later this month.

Today, the government has taken another important decision related to the agriculture sector.
To promote zero budget farming i.e. natural farming, to scientifically change the crop pattern keeping in mind the changing requirements of the country.
To make MSP more effective and transparent, a committee will be constituted to take decisions on all such matters keeping in view the future.
In this committee, there will be representatives of the central government, state governments, farmers, agricultural scientists, agricultural economists.

Punjab assembly unanimously passed a resolution against Centre’s decision to extend the jurisdiction of the BSF to a 50 km belt along the international border in state.
We are committed to protect Punjab and if required will approach Supreme court in this matter.
I had met the Centre Govt to appeal them to seal international boarder within 5 kilometer jurisdiction to curb smuggling of drugs.
But Akali Dal does not want this as it desires to continue flow of drugs into state so that they can annihilate future of Punjab.
Punjab government tabled a White Paper on power sector including PPA agreements signed during Akali regime in the Vidhan Sabha today.
I want to reiterate my firm stand to Punjabis that now accountability will be fixed and exemplary action to be initiated against perpetrators.
House passed bill to abolish Contract Farming Act, 2013 implemented by Akali Dal.
Assembly also passed ‘APMC Amendment Act 2021’ to prevent privatisation & to counter 3 draconian farm laws of Union Govt.

Urging Agri Minister NS Tomar to be sensitive to the pain of our farmers sitting on Delhi borders for 194 days, I exhort him to hold fresh talks to understand why they want the Acts be repealed, instead of sprinkling salt on their wounds by out rightly rejecting this demand.

As the farmers’ protest completed 6 months, the government is using the pandemic to turn the narrative in its favour The new spin is “prolonging the agitation in the midst of a pandemic is unconscionable”.
The obvious counter is “prolonging the controversial farm laws in the midst of a pandemic is unconscionable” The farmers are determined, the government is stubborn.
If the government is a servant of the people, it should heed public opinion, scrap the farm laws and begin fresh consultations
