  • A significant feature of India’s management of COVID19 cases is the growing rate of recovered patients.
  • The total recoveries in India have crossed 29 lakh as of today
  • 12 States/UTs have reported a Recovery Rate more than the National Average.
  • Two states, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, alone account for around 30% of the total recoveries.

  • Announcing the successful completion of PAN-India 1000 Genome sequencing of SARSCoV2, I said that:

  • Genetic sequencing at this stage may appear to be only a technical finding, but we have to ultimately synchronise this with global research to ensure benefits for humankind.

  • I said these genetic sequencing efforts remind me of Polio eradication movement decades ago.

  • Today, I chaired the 19th high-level Group Of Ministers meeting to review, monitor & evaluate the evolving situation on COVID19.

  • A presentation on the ground situation as well as the latest statistics with respect to COVID was made & future strategies were drawn up.

  • At the outset, the GoM was briefed on the current status of COVID19 in India.

  • Director NCDC presented the global comparison on daily cases, deaths & growth rate in the top 10 countries with the highest caseload.

  • GoM was apprised on the distribution of confirmed cases along with locality & active cases in the Containment Zones across rural and urban India. Director NCDC also briefed the GoM on the growth rate in top 12 States.

  • Efforts are being made to reduce mortality in high caseload districts & cities showing recent upsurge like Pune, Thane, Bengaluru, Hyderabad etc.

  • The measures to be taken include revamping the strategy for effective management of Containment Zones

  • Participated in a review meeting chaired by CM Uddhav Thackeray ji, in the presence of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar ji in Pune today.
    
  • CM held one meeting with the elected representatives and another with all assistant commissioners from Pune & Pimpri-Chinchwad to further formulate a strategy to tackle the spread of Coronavirus in Pune.

  • West Bengal, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh will benefit massively in the fight against COVID-19 after the launch of these high throughput COVID testing facilities

  • These centres also have a lot of economic ability and these hi-tech labs will help increase their testing capabilities immensely.

  • In the future, these labs can be used in Hepatitis B, Dengue and other dangerous diseases

  • The number of people to have recovered in India is reaching 10 lakh. In this long-drawn fight against COVID, it was important that Coronavirus-specific health infrastructure was developed at rapid speed

  • Thus, we had announced a package worth Rs 15,000 crore very early. India has very swiftly increased its capabilities.

  • Today, India has over 11,000 COVID facilities and over 11 lakh isolation beds

  • At one point, India did not produce even one PPE a day. Today, it is the second highest producer of PPE kits globally.

  • Six months back, there was no manufacturing of PPE kits. Today, over 1200 manufacturers are producing over 5 lakh kits per day

  • We need to ensure that the benefits of PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana reaches every poor family timely

CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’s speech at the launch of High throughput COVID-19 Testing facilities by ICMR’s Labs at Mumbai, Kolkata & Noida by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji;

  • CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray requested the PM for assistance in setting up an Immunological Laboratory and Research Centre in Maharashtra to aid the ongoing battle against coronavirus.

  • He said the proposed centre would help combat viruses which have been plaguing the planet not just today but in the years to come.

  • He informed about the “Corona Dakshata Samitis” which will be set up in each village in Maharashtra to check the spread of the coronavirus. These Samitis will be helmed by prominent local citizens who will ensure that precautionary measures are strictly adhered to by citizens.

  • The Chief Minister also requested the Prime Minister to extend the continued and regular provision of N 95 masks and PPE kits to States after the proposed deadline of September. This will help the States to focus on extending medical facilities and treatment of COVID-19 patients.

  • He thanked the Prime Minister for the new facility and for providing continuous support to the States in these critical times.



7 out of the top 15 high case load cities report a recovery rate which is higher than the national average: Amitabh Kant

Amitabh Kant – CEO, NITI Aayog:

  • 15 cities now contribute 50% of India’s cases.

  • Cities/Districts such as Kamrup Metropol., East Godavari, North 24 Parganas are some of the new entrants- an indication that cases are spilling over into newer locations.

  • Testing, Tracing & Treating (3T) must be ramped up here.

  • 7 out of the top 15 high case load cities report a recovery rate which is higher than the national average.

  • Delhi now has an impressive recovery rate of 87%.

  • Ramped up testing, rigorous tracing and timely treatment is our only vaccine against COVID19 for now.

PM to launch High Throughput COVID-19 testing facilities on 27 July

At 4:30 PM on Monday, 27th July, high-throughput COVID-19 testing facilities will be launched.

These high-throughput testing facilities being set up in Noida, Mumbai and Kolkata will help in further ramping up our testing capacity.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch high throughput COVID-19 testing facilities on 27th July via video conferencing.

These facilities will ramp up testing capacity in the country and help in strengthening early detection and treatment, thus assisting in controlling the spread of the pandemic.

These three high-throughput testing facilities have been set up strategically at

ICMR-National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research, Noida;

ICMR-National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health, Mumbai; and

ICMR-National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, Kolkata, and will be able to test over 10,000 samples in a day.

These labs will also reduce turn-around-time and exposure of lab personnel to infectious clinical materials.

The labs are enabled to test diseases other than COVID as well, and post the pandemic, will be able to test for Hepatitis B and C, HIV, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Cytomegalovirus, Chlamydia, Neisseria, Dengue, etc.

Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Science & Technology, along with Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh will be participating in the event.
