Visited the Nongkhnum River Island which is Asia’s 2nd biggest river island located in Meghalaya to explore its tourism potential. Meghalaya is paradise of natural wonders & with tourism restarting, one must explore these places in India.

Govt will invest ₹13 crore in the next one year through New Development Bank for the development of the Nongkhnum River Island under the Nongkhnum project.

Meghalaya Cabinet decides to reduce VAT on Petrol and Diesel: Conrad Sangma

Conrad Sangma – Chief Minister, Meghalaya:

Meghalaya Cabinet has decided to provide a relief on the fuel prices in the state by reducing the VAT on petrol from 20% to 13.5% & diesel from 12% to 5% per litre, providing relief of ₹10 to our consumers.

Till now ₹24 Cr. has been released to hotels for providing accommodation to frontline workers this has prevented job losses for those engaged in the sector: Conrad Sangma

In today’s Autumn Session I informed the House on Govt’s interventions for the welfare of farmers & the agriculture sector, programs for entrepreneurs & youth & support for the hotel industry of the State during the pandemic period.

AGRICULTURE MARKETS

New agriculture markets are being constructed in 20 locations in the State. The markets will have prefabricated structures constructed by the Govt. that will be handed over & run by our farmers.

LAKADONG MISSION

₹8 Cr has been spent on the Lakadong Mission which has seen an area expansion of 1,074 hectares in the past 3 years benefitting 7,352 farmers.

MUSHROOM MISSION

For Mushroom Mission, the Govt. has spent about ₹2.6 Cr towards increase production of mushroom, benefitting over 300 farmers across the State. Interest free loans to the tune of Rs. 50,000 per person in the coming months.

Farmer Producer Groups are being provided support for organic certification, cluster development, value addition & marketing. 12 Farmer Producer Companies with over 5000 farmers have been set up in Ri Bhoi, South Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills & East Garo Hills

IVCS

300 Integrated Village Cooperative Societies (IVCS) with membership of 45,000 farmers have been formed across the State to enable the aggregation & marketing of produce. 77 cooperatives have been provided an interest free working capital loan of ₹5 Lakhs each.

Through FOCUS- Farmers’ Collectivization for Upscaling of Production & Marketing Systems program support of ₹5,000 is provided to each producer household. Over 1,250 PGs with 18,000+ producers have received the fund & we will spend ₹200 Cr on this program.

The country’s largest Piggery Mission is being implemented with a budget of ₹209 Cr out of which, about ₹26 Cr interest free loan has been sanctioned till date to 149 cooperative societies with 2,000 producers. We hope to benefit around 25,000 farmers across the State.

Under the Milk Mission, ₹10.02 Cr of interest free loans have been released benefitting 260 dairy farmers

Under PRIME’s Entrepreneurship Development Program 100 youth-led enterprises have been mentored & provided with funding support. Almost ₹2 Cr have been given to these enterprise ₹5 Lakhs of Kickstart grants & upto ₹25 Lakhs of scale up loans are being provided to enterprises

We launched the Meghalaya Youth Policy which lays out a detailed framework for engaging & empowering the 12 lakhs young peopl in the age group of 15-29 years. It includes aspects such as provision of vocational training & overall development of the youth making them future ready.

The Govt. has been using many hotels for providing accommodation to the frontline workers & as quarantine centres. Till now ₹24 Cr. has been released to such hotels and this has prevented job losses for those engaged in the sector.

To us, he was a devoted father & the greatest mentor.

Key decisions of the Meghalaya Cabinet today:

Cabinet has decided to constitute a judicial enquiry under the Commission of Enquiry Act to look into the events that occurred in the wee hours of 13th August, 2021.

A Peace Committee will be constituted, chaired by the Deputy CM, Sh. P. Tynsong & Cabinet Ministers, Sh. H. Dohling, & Sh. R. Tongkhar.

The Committee will co-opt members from civil societies, religious organisations, community heads, etc.

There will also be a Sub-Committee for Security & Law & Order headed by the Chief Minister, Sh. Conrad Sangma with Deputy CM & Home Minister as members to look into aspects of law & order, possible future threats & overall functioning of Meghalaya Police.

Lastly, in view of the overall situation in Shillong, the Curfew will be extended till 5AM of 18th August, 2021.

The temporary ban on mobile internet services will also be extended for the next 24 hours.

Inaugurated the Warimandal bridge that connects 9 villages & is a dream come true for the villagers: Conrad Sangma

Inaugurated the Warimandal bridge across Rongre river, constructed by 9 VECs under MGNREGA in convergence with SRWP & MBDA.

The bridge connects 9 villages & is a dream come true for the villagers residing across the river.

Constructed at a cost of ₹1,58,26,000/-, the bridge will help people have access to better medical facilities and improve trade and commerce in the area.

I dedicate the bridge to our people.

Nothing can deter the spirit of our frontliners who are set to conquer the last mile vaccination challenge in remote villages in Meghalaya

Ranikor CHC Team took the COVID Vaccination to villagers who were unable to come for vaccination due to heavy monsoon rains

The Team made two unsuccessful attempts to reach the villages that were cut off due to bad weather.

They persisted and were successful in their third attempt!

Salute their determination!

Key decisions of the Govt. post the Covid Review Meeting today:

1. 15% of public transport (local taxis) will be allowed to operate in Shillong from 28th June 2021. Declaration of ‘Vaccinated’ or ‘Non-Vaccinated’ status of drivers will need to be displayed on the vehicles.

2. Tea shops in rural areas will be allowed to open. However, dine-in will not be allowed to avoid crowding.

3. Provision Kits with essential items will also be provided to Covid positive patients staying in Corona Care Centres.
