Our democracy’s biggest strength is the ability to sit across a table and exchange views: PM Narendra Modi

PM Narendra Modi:

Today’s meeting with political leaders from Jammu and Kashmir is an important step in the ongoing efforts towards a developed and progressive J&K, where all-round growth is furthered.

Our priority is to strengthen grassroots democracy in J&K. Delimitation has to happen at a quick pace so that polls can happen and J&K gets an elected Government that gives strength to J&K’s development trajectory.

Our democracy’s biggest strength is the ability to sit across a table and exchange views. I told the leaders of J&K that it is the people, specially the youth who have to provide political leadership to J&K, and ensure their aspirations are duly fulfilled.

The delimitation exercise and peaceful elections are important milestones in restoring statehood as promised in parliament: Amit Shah – Home Minister

Everyone expressed their commitment to democracy and the constitution.

It was stressed to strengthen the democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir.

We are committed to ensure all round development of J&K.

The future of Jammu and Kashmir was discussed and the delimitation exercise and peaceful elections are important milestones in restoring statehood as promised in parliament.

We agreed to accompany the All Party delegation to PM to clarify doubts if any but this was misinterpreted by Cong govt stating that Akali Dal would accompany to get the Ordinances withdrawn: SS Badal

Sukhbir Singh Badal – President, Shiromani Akali Dal :

  • Capt Amarinder SIngh & Congress govt tried to deceive farmers by issuing a false & misleading press statement about the All-Party meeting held yesterday.
  • They committed ‘breach of faith’ by manipulating press release to show Akali Dal supported the resolutions moved by them.
  • We agreed to accompany the delegation to PM to clarify doubts if any but this was misinterpreted by Cong govt stating that Akali Dal would accompany to get the Ordinances withdrawn.
  • I have written to CM deriding the manner in which they tried to mislead farmers & misquote me.
  • There was no discussion on merit about the central Ordinances on agriculture, where we made it clear that there was no mention of ending MSP or assured marketing in any of the Ordinances.
  • We had also pointed out that Ordinances didn’t contain anything against federalism.
  • We had assured at the meeting that MSP and assured marketing won’t end.
  • We as a party even said we were ready to get a written assurance on this account from the Union Agriculture minister and would get an assurance from Parliament also when the Ordinances were tabled there.
  • Ironically, neither CM nor the PCC president Sunilk Jakhar had any answer when asked to clarify why the Congress govt had passed all the provisions of the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce ordinance by amending the APMC Act in 2017, if these were anti-farmer.
  • During the All party meeting, the INC Punjab was supported by Aam Aadmi Party which spoke its language and acted as a rubber stamp.
  • Few other political leaders also displayed their close ties with the Congress party.

Neither is anyone inside our territory nor is any of our post captured : PM Modi

PM Narendra Modi holds All Party Meeting to discuss situation in India-China border areas:

  • 20 of our brave soldiers made the supreme sacrifice in Ladakh but also taught a lesson to those who dared to look towards our motherland.
  • Neither is anyone inside our territory nor is any of our post captured; India wants peace and friendship, but upholding sovereignty is foremost.
  • Govt has given primacy to development of border area infrastructure to make our borders more secure. All necessary steps for national security and construction of infrastructure will continue at a fast pace

‘Opposition parties represent over 60 percent of India’s people. We, therefore, appeal to the Union Govt to listen & consider the following 11 demands’

Special Congress Party Briefing by party Communication in-charge, RS Surjewala on the All-party meeting held today:

  • In the all-party meeting that went on for about 4 hours, 22 political parties made some conclusions for further strategy.
  • Opposition parties represent over 60 percent of India’s people. We, therefore, appeal to the Union Government to listen and consider the following eleven demands.
  • 1- Direct Cash Transfer of Rs. 7,500/- per month to all families, outside the Income Tax bracket, for six months. Rs. 10,000/- to be paid immediately, with the balance being paid equally across the remaining five months.
  • 2- Free distribution of 10 kg food grains to all needy individuals, each month for the next six months. Increase the number of MGNREGA days to 200 and provide the necessary budgetary support.
  • 3- Free transportation for all migrant workers to their native places. Also make immediate and reliable arrangements to rescue all Indian students and other citizens stranded overseas.
  • 4- Provide accurate and relevant information on COVID-19 infections and goalposts vis-à-vis testing, infrastructure and containing spread.
  • 5- Reverse all unilateral policy decisions particularly the annulment of labour laws.
  • 6- Immediately procure the rabi harvest at MSP and provide assistance for the produce to reach the market. The Government must also provide seeds, fertilisers and other inputs to the farmers to help prepare for the kharif crop.
  • 7- Release substantial funds to state govts who are in the frontline of combating the pandemic
  • 8- Communicate in clear terms Central Government’s exit strategy from the lockdown, if any.
  • 9- Restore Parliamentary functioning & oversight with immediate effect.
  • 10- Present a clear & meaningful economic strategy focused on revival & poverty alleviation instead of propaganda. ₹20 lakh crore package & its contents mislead people of India.
  • 11- Consult State Governments while allowing international/ domestic flights.
  • We demand that government present a revised and comprehensive package that will be a true fiscal stimulus in order to stimulate demand in the economy
