Participated in the G20 Summit on Afghanistan.

Get the BRICS to pass a resolution against the Taliban.

Dr Swamy

Dr Subramanian Swamy – MP, Former Union Minister:

I call upon Prime Minister Modi to make a strong public statement denouncing the Taliban for brutalizing women in Afghanistan.

Get the BRICS to pass a resolution against the Taliban.

If BRICS does not agree then walk out from BRICS.

Resumption of travel out of Kabul is a priority: Dr S Jaishankar

Dr S Jaishankar – External Affairs Minister :

Addressed the Afghanistan conference co-convened by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.

Resumption of travel out of Kabul is a priority.

Use of Afghan soil to promote terrorism in any manner by any country is unacceptable.

The Taliban must live up to its declarations to that effect.

The world should not countenance interference by external players, especially those intensifying violence at this difficult time.

Our collective approach should be guided by UNSC resolution 2593.

The possible axis of China, Pakistan and Taliban-controlled Afghanistan is a cause for worry: P Chidambaram

P Chidambaram – Former Union Finance Minister:

The government is congratulating itself for the UNSC resolution on Afghanistan adopted yesterday

‘Resolution’ has two meanings.

The first is that the issue has been ‘resolved’ or settled to India’s satisfaction. That is not what happened at the UNSC

The second meaning is that we have put our wishes on paper and got some others to sign that paper! That is what happened at UNSC yesterday

It is too premature to congratulate ourselves. The possible axis of China, Pakistan and Taliban-controlled Afghanistan is a cause for worry

Our immediate concern and task is evacuation and long term interest is the friendship for the Afghan people: Dr S Jaishankar

Dr S Jaishankar – External Affairs Minister :

Briefed the Floor Leaders of all political parties today on Afghanistan.

37 leaders from 31 parties attended. Thank them all.

There is longstanding national sentiment on Afghanistan. Therefore there is national concern now at developments.
We are gathered with a national spirit.

Our strong friendship with the people of Afghanistan is reflected in the more than 500 projects we have there.
This friendship will continue to guide us. India’s footprint and activities naturally keep in mind the ongoing changes.

We have undertaken evacuation operations in extremely difficult conditions especially at the airport. Our immediate concern and task is evacuation and long term interest is the friendship for the Afghan people.

Intensify engagement with Iran (our only land bridge to Afghanistan) : Milind Deora

Milind Deora

Milind Deora – Former Union Minister:

  • In the backdrop of a Sino-Pak nexus & with America gone, we must recalibrate India’s foreign policy to safeguard our strategic interests.

  • Intensify engagement with Iran (our only land bridge to Afghanistan), wait & watch before hastily recognising & formally engaging the Taliban

There is an urgent need to revisit our geo-political interests in view of Taliban & Haqqani Network connections with Pakistan’s ISI & JeM, LeT, JuD & its impact on J&K: RS Surjewala

Taliban & Haqqani Network connections with Pakistan’s ISI & JeM, LeT, JuD are well known.

There is an urgent need to revisit our geo-political interests in this background & its impact on J&K.

Sadly, Modi Govt is oblivious of the same.

RS Surjewala – General Secretary, COngress

We need to be extra vigilant now at all our borders: Capt Amarinder Singh

Capt Amarinder Singh – Chief Minister, Punjab:

Afghanistan’s fall to Taliban doesn’t augur well for our country.

It’ll strengthen the Sino-Pak nexus against India (China has already sought militia’s help on Uyghur).

The signs are not at all good, we need to be extra vigilant now at all our borders.
