• On 11th May 1951, the glory of the magnificent Somnath Temple which was plundered by invaders was restored when Dr Rajendra Prasad led the reinstallation ceremony of the lingam.
• The reconstruction was ordered by Sardar Patel but he passed away before work could be completed.
