Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi interacts with the Weaver Community in Tamil Nadu
Many people when they see India’s farmers, weavers, workers, they see weakness but when I look at India’s farmers, labourers, weavers, I see India’s true strength
One cannot have a strong building without a strong foundation. The labourers, farmers, skilled people are the foundations, walls of any building that we’re going to build
I think India owes a debt to its farmers, its labourers, its weavers because these are the people who have built this nation.
When we think of farmers, labourers, weavers, we have to think that- as a nation, we owe them a debt of gratitude
I am here to talk to you not as someone who will tell you what to do but as someone who wants to listen to your views on the future of this country. I do have some opinions that I’d like to share with you as well
I can guarantee you that if India’s labourers, farmers, weavers were strong, protected, were given opportunities, China would never dare to step inside India
Also, if India’s labourers, farmers, MSMEs were strong then the President of China would be wearing a shirt made in India
The first anti-worker, anti-farmer action taken by Narendra Modi, on purpose, to weaken you was demonetisation.
The idea behind demonetisation was that no poor man should be able to run his own business
The next action against our labourers, farmers, weavers was GST. Make GST so complicated, so difficult that no poor man can understand it, can work with it
We need a transformation in the way we are thinking. Our labourers, farmers, weavers should feel that the country is indebted to them, that the country owes them something, because that is the truth
In the last Lok Sabha election we had developed an idea to help people like Revathi. We didn’t want a half solution, we wanted a full solution so she never has to ask this question again. The idea was called NYAY
The idea was that the Govt of India would guarantee a certain minimum amount of money directly into the bank accounts of all India’s poor people
Mr Narendra Modi has given the 15 biggest businesses in India a gift of almost ₹ 10 L Cr, then if Mr Narendra Modi can give a gift of ₹ 10 lakh crores to 15 people, why can’t we give a gift to millions of people
The number was that the Indian Govt would give every poor Indian family ₹ 72,000 each year directly in the bank.
And this would happen again and again until that person was out of poverty and this was our commitment in the last election
When Congress party comes to power at the national level, we are going to implement this idea and make sure that the poorest people who we owe our debt to are repaid for the service that they have done to this country
India is not a poor country, its people are poor. There is no shortage of money in this country, the problem is that the money is not distributed properly
