India’s civil aviation flies high!

The International Air Transportation Association (IATA) Annual Report 2020 states that India’s air connectivity has grown by almost 240% in the last 10 years.

There were 2.6 million aircraft movements in 2018-19 (up 12.1% over 2017-18).

India ranks 4th in the global ranking of air connectivity.

India’s connections to Asia-Pacafic have grown the fastest over the last 5 years.

This significant connectivity growth was driven by several factors such as demographics, domestic market demand & policy environment.

GoI has granted ‘in principle’ approval for development of 21 greenfield Airports in India.

AAI had successfully started process of leasing 6 airports under PPP.

India has led with a significant 89% growth rate, replacing Indonesia to the 3rd position in Asia ranking in 2019.
