How the Maharashtra Govt. came to the aid of 29 students who started a 700kms trek back home after the lockdown

  • Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has repeatedly promised that no people from other States will face any issue & the State will ensure their well being.
  • 29 students from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana had come to the College of Agriculture in Udgir, Latur for training. They left for home after the lockdown.
  • Amidst the lockdown, there were no passenger transport vehicles yet the idea of going home was exerting an emotional pull on them, and they began walking the 600-700km to their homes.
  • They reached Nanded district on March 30 by when districts were sealed off. The Nanded district administration took them into their protection & patiently explained the situation to them.
  • They were given accommodation, provided with essentials & their safety was ensured by the District Collector along with health check ups.
  • To keep up their morale they are also engaged in regular exercises & Yoga as it is difficult for them to stay away from their families.
