Dharmendra Pradhan – Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas:
Dedication of the ambitious Kochi-Mangaluru natural gas pipeline by PM Shri Narendra Modi today is a historic moment in our journey towards becoming a gas-based economy.
This will usher a clean fuel-led development for the people of Kerala and Karnataka.
Grateful to PM Narendra Modi ji for his commitment towards reducing carbon footprints and mitigating climate change.
This ambitious national project has seen the light of day due to PM Modi’s clear-cut roadmap and efforts for adopting green pathways.
Gujarat under the Chief Ministership of PM Narendra Modi two decades ago had led the way in emerging as a gas-hub.
Gujarat’s current share of natural gas in its primary energy mix is 26%, 2% above the global average of 24%.
I am equally thankful to the people of Kerala and Karnataka, CM Shri Pinarayi Vijayan and CM Shri BS Yediyurappa for their support in completing this futuristic project. There can be no better example of cooperative federalism than this.
Kochi-Mangaluru natural gas pipeline will be a major driver of development for both Kerala and Karnataka.
This will further propel our efforts towards facilitating ease-of-living for citizens, facilitating ‘One Nation, One Grid’ and achieving Urja Aatmanirbharta.
