Dr Manoj Soni takes the Oath of Office and Secrecy as Chairman, Union Public Service Commission today

Dr Manoj Soni took the Oath of Office and Secrecy as Chairman, Union Public Service Commission today. The Oath was administered by Smt. Smita Nagaraj, senior most Member of the Commission.

Dr Manoj Soni joined the Commission as Member on 28.06.2017 and was later on appointed to perform the duties of the post of Chairman, UPSC under Article 316 (A) of the Constitution of India w.e.f. 05.04.2022.

Prior to joining UPSC, Dr Soni studied Political Science with specialization in International Relation Studies and earned doctorate in “ Post-Cold War International Systemic Transition and Indo-US Relations” from Sardar Patel University. He served a total of three terms as Vice-Chancellor of the M.S. University of Baroda (one term) and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, Gujarat for two terms. He has been the youngest-ever Vice Chancellor in independent India. Dr Soni has earned a number of recognitions and awards and has significant publications to his credit.  

Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw launches Sanchar Saathi portal today: Ministry of Communications

Safety and security of the users is an integral part of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of  Digital India.  Towards fulfilling this vision, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Communications, Railways and Electronics & IT, launched the Sanchar Saathi portal today.

While speaking at the launch, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the three reforms are being introduced today towards furthering PM’s vision:

  1. CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) – for blocking stolen/lost mobiles.
  2. Know your mobile connections – to know mobile connections registered in your name.
  3. ASTR (Artificial Intelligence and Facial Recognition powered Solution for Telecom SIM Subscriber Verification) – to identify fraudulent subscribers.

The Minister said that various frauds such as identity theft, forged KYC, banking frauds can take place by misusing mobile phones. This portal has been developed to prevent such frauds. He said user safety is also an important part of the draft Telecom bill.

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin inaugurated the Tamil Nadu Technological (iTNT) Hub.

This hub will promote research in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Block Chain, Deep Technology, and other leading-edge innovation.

For the first time in India, we have a technology hub that will function together with educational institutions, start-ups, corporates and the government.

It is jointly funded by the Union Government, the TN Government and the private sector.

Happy to be reunited with friends from the past for this initiative.
