Building on the successful visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the US last month, this visit by the Finance Minister further accelerated the momentum of India’s rise as a favoured destination for global investments.
An important aspect of the FM’s visit to the US was to represent India’s interests at the IMF-World Bank annual meetings.
These included meetings at the G20 FMCBG, IMF plenary & IMFC, World Bank Development Committee & with World Bank President David Malpass.
During the meetings, Smt N Sitharaman elaborated upon India’s COVID-19 response, including the actions taken within the country and to extend a helping hand abroad, the structural reforms undertaken, India’s post-COVID robust growth, and how it has exceeded the NDC targets.

The Govt. of Punjab has decided to waive off arrears of Rural Water Supply schemes, Water Supply & Sewerage charges for domestic connection worth Rs 1868 crores.
Arrears on tubewell power bills for public water distribution in both Rural and Urban areas would also be waived off.
Furthermore, Govt. of Punjab has decided to provide free power to all Rural Water Supply (RWS).
The service charge on all RWS schemes will be reduced by 70% from Rs.166 to Rs.50 per household per month in the villages worth 440 crores.

Instead of questioning low ATF prices they should convince Congress-ruled states to reduce taxes & levies on fuel.
ATF prices in the country have always been lower than consumer fuels, also due to the fact that Centre charges only 2% central excise on ATF at UDAN airports.
Till now 387 air-routes have been awarded under UDAN scheme making aviation accessible & affordable for nearly 4 lakh passengers everyday.
PM Gati Shakti envisages doubling India’s existing aviation footprint to a total of 220 airports, heliports & water aerodromes by 2025.

Tomorrow is a special day for our infrastructure and civil aviation sector. The Kushinagar International Airport will be inaugurated, with the inaugural flight landing from Colombo, whose passengers include a group of respected monks. This airport will benefit UP and Bihar.
It is our constant endeavour to boost medical related infrastructure across the nation. In Kushinagar tomorrow, 9 medical colleges will be either dedicated to the nation or their foundation stones would be laid.
