Happy to share that actor & philanthropist Sonu Sood will be the Brand Ambassador of our Covid19 vaccination drive.Capt Amarinder Singh – Chief Minister, Punjab:
I thank him for supporting our campaign to reach out to, and protect, every Punjabi, and appeal to all to get vaccinated at the earliest.
Vaccination against Covid19 will provide all with required immunity to fight pandemic.
We need to ensure that all eligible persons are vaccinated at the earliest & that we continue to follow safety protocols.
Urge my fellow Punjabis to ensure we triumph against Covid19.
Ministry of Health via PIB India:
India is witnessing a recent surge in COVID cases. As on 11.04.2021, there are 11.08 lakh active COVID cases and they are steadily increasing. This has led to a sudden spike in demand for Injection Remdesivir used in treatment of COVID patients. There is a potential of further increase in this demand in the coming days.
Seven Indian companies are producing Injection Remdesivir under voluntary licensing agreement with M/s. Gilead Sciences, USA. They have an installed capacity of about 38.80 lakh units per month.
In light of the above, Government of India has prohibited the exports of Injection Remdesivir and Remdesivir Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) till the situation improves.
In addition, Government of India has taken the following steps to ensure easy access of hospital and patients to Remdesivir:
All domestic manufactures of Remdesivir have been advised to display on their website, details of their stockists/ distributors to facilitate access to the drug.
Drugs inspectors and other officers have been directed to verify stocks and check their malpractices and also take other effective actions to curb hoarding and black marketing.
The State Health Secretaries will review this with the Drug Inspectors of the respective States/UTs.
The Department of Pharmaceuticals has been in contact with the domestic manufacturers to ramp up the production of Remdesivir.
The Government of India has also advised the States that the extant “National Clinical Management Protocol for COVID-19″, which is based on evidence, has been developed after many interactions by Committee of Experts, and is the guiding document for treatment of Covid-19 patients.
In the Protocol, Remdesivir is listed as an Investigational Therapy, i.e. where informed and shared decision making is essential, besides taking note of contra indications mentioned in the detailed guidelines.
The States and UTs have been advised that these steps should again be communicated to all hospitals, both in public and private sector, and compliance monitored.
P Chidambaram – Former Union Finance Minister:
What does one say when the government wants to call the vaccination drive an “utsav”? By no stretch of imagination can it be a festival. The vaccination drive is a crusade.
Having messed up the management of the production and supply sides of the vaccines, the government is covering up its massive failure through rhetoric and hyperbole.
We were the first to demand universal vaccination and get rid of the silly app and the need for pre-registration. Vaccination must be a walk-in programme
Government must immediately provide funds to ramp up production in India and increase supplies.
Government must also authorise the use of more approved vaccines and allow their manufacture or import.
We have a duopoly of two vaccines, but they are hardly sufficient to vaccinate a nation of 138 crore people.
My letter to the Minister of Education Dr RP Nishank asking him to reconsider allowing the CBSE to conduct board exams under the prevailing COVID wave.Priyanka Gandhi – general secretary, congress
KTR – Minister, Telangana Govt.:
Pleased to share success story of one of the innovations introduced in MA&UD dept in 2017; TDRs (Transferable Development Rights)
It’s a win-win deal for property owners & urban local bodies
GHMC alone has saved ₹3095 Cr in Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), Road & Nala widening by issuing TDRs
We have also introduced a “TDR bank” which enables 100% online issuance and utilisation of TDR Certificates between agencies such as GHMC, HMDA & TSIIC inside of ORR
The Online TDR Bank application can be viewed at http:/tdr.ghmc.telangana.gov.in:8080/
Niti Aayog under the Ministry of Planning, Govt of India also recognised the Online TDR Bank application as one of the best practice in the country for acquisition of lands for developmental works & have suggested that other states in the country adopt similar best practices
In the light of the devastating Corona second wave, conducting CBSE exams must be reconsidered.
All stakeholders must be consulted before making sweeping decisions.
On how many counts does Govt. of India intend to play with the future of India’s youth?
You have never been in love and at the same time been centered. Look into your Self. Then the love in you will blossom, you will become vast and wide:
Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray today held a virtual meeting with leaders of major political parties and cabinet colleagues to discuss the COVID situation in the State and the mitigation measures.
He made the following points:
To break the COVID transmission chain, it is imperative that strict restrictions must be imposed for a certain period of time.
The first priority will be given to saving lives. If this is a public health emergency, then the priority will be health of citizens & their lives.
The Leader of Opposition has made some good points. They will be considered earnestly.
The State Government will act on suggestions like availability of Remdesivir, availability of test reports sooner from the labs, & precise planning to make oxygen supply available.
In last year’s lockdown, people were at home. Hence, tracing patients and most of their contacts was easier. Now, everything has opened up. There are practical difficulties in doing so.
Increasing vaccination coverage is the need of the hour. The youth must be vaccinated. Pfizer is planning to vaccinate adolescents between 12 to 15 years of age.
Everyone has agreed to ensure that the daily wage earners, labourers and the working classes are not hit hard while imposing stricter measures. Planning is underway to ensure this.
The surge in the daily number of patients is rapid, if a decision about the lockdown is not taken today, a lockdown-like situation will automatically come into force tomorrow.
On one hand, there is public sentiment, and on the other, the Corona pandemic. In this situation, we will have to bear some hardship to win this battle.
I am speaking to people across various sectors. Yesterday, I spoke to directors of private hospitals. Everyone is ready to co-operate with the Government. The opinions of the members of the task force are also being considered.
By prioritising the health of the people of the state, I appeal to all party leaders, to extend their full cooperation to the decisions taken by the state government.
P Chidambaram – Former Union Finance Minister:
I cannot recall in recent years any case of police firing on voting day during elections resulting in 4 deaths.
It is a case of a failure of leadership and management of the deployment of security personnel. Who should bear responsibility?
The EC should be held responsible because it has made large scale transfers and postings of senior police officers in West Bengal.
The polarisation of society that is taking place in West Bengal, thanks to the BJP, is the gravest tragedy that has befallen that state.
I cannot believe that the land of Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, Raja Ram Mohun Roy, Ishwar Chander Vidyasagar, Rabindranath Tagore, Subhas Chandra Bose Satyajit Ray and Dr B C Roy can fall prey to the virus of communalism.
Anyone who claims the legacy of these great leaders — as I proudly do — should shun and fight communalism.
